Abbreviations Us Terms:
Fhdc=foundation half double crochet
ch=chain
BPhdc=back post half double crochet
FPhdc=front post half double crochet
st=stitch
rep=repeat
hdc=half double crochet
Notes:
- ch 2 counts as a stitch.
- This beanie is worked in rows then short ends are sewn together.
- You then weave in and out of stitches at top of hat, pull to cinch tight, and sew any remaining opening closed.
Pattern Instructions
All sizes:
Using the sizing chart, Fhdc until you have 2 inches less than your circumference measurement. Ex. child size, make your foundation row 17″.
Row 1: ch 2, BPhdc next st, FPhdc next st, across, turn
Rows 2-3: rep row 1
Rows 4-5: ch 2, hdc across, turn
Row 6: ch 2, BPhdc each st across, turn
Row 7: ch 2, FPhdc each st across, turn
Row 8: ch 2, BPhdc each st across, turn
Rows: 9-13: ch 2, hdc across, turn
Rows 14-16: rep rows 6-8
Rows 17-21: ch 2, hdc across, turn
Child size stop here, leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off and refer to finishing section. All other sizes continue below.

Teen/Adult Small Size:
Rows 22-23: ch 2, hdc across, leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off here and refer to finishing section
Adult Medium:
Rows 22-24: rep rows 6-8, leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off here and refer to finishing section
Adult Large:
Rows 22-24: rep rows 6-8
Rows 25-26: ch 2, hdc across, turn, leaving a long tail for sewing, fasten off here and refer to finishing section
Finishing for all sizes
Place short sides together with right side (raised ridges) on inside. Using your long tail, whipstitch the hat together. Fasten off and weave in end. Turn hat so right side (raised ridges) is facing outward. Cut a long piece of yarn and weave it in and out of the stitches at top of hat. Pull tight to cinch the hat together. Use remaining yarn to sew up any hole left behind. Attach a Pom Pom if desired.
