This is a fun crochet applique for a haunted house and moon. You can add to a wall hanging or pillow for a spooky decoration. It also makes a fun idea for a coaster for a Halloween party. Complete with turret and windows.

Supplies needed for this crochet applique
#4 Cotton in black and yellow {I used Lion Brand 24/7 cotton}
10-20 yds.
US G Hook (4 mm) I love Furls Hooks
Needle for weaving ends/sewing
The house measures 4.5″ x 3.5′ and the moon measures 5″diameter
Abbreviations Used {US Terms}
ch=chain
sc=single crochet
sk=skip
dc=double crochet
sl st=slip stitch
st(es)=stitch/stitches
Inc: Increase
Inv Dec: Invisible decrease
MR=magic ring
Rnd=round
Special Stitches Used
Inc: 2 sc in same st
Inv Dec: Insert hook in front loop of first st, do not yarn over, insert hook in front loop of 2nd st, yo, pull through both sts, yo, pull through both loops on hook
Ch 3 Picot: ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch
Notes
- You will be fastening off and rejoining while making haunted house
- Ch 3 does not count as a stitch on the moon
- Use a smaller or larger hook to change size

Pattern instructions for crochet applique
Haunted House:
Row 1: ch 17, sc 2nd ch and each ch across, turn [16]
Row: 2-3: ch 1, sc each st across, turn [24]
Row 4: ch 1, sc first 3 sts, leave rest of sts unworked, turn [3]
Rows 5-6: ch 1, sc each of the 3 sts, turn. At end of row 6, fasten off.
Return to Row 3, sk next 3 sts, join with sl st in 4th st
Row 4: ch 1, sc next 4 sts, leave rest of sts unworked, turn [4]
Rows 5-6: ch 1, sc each of the 4 sts, turn. At end of row 6, fasten off.
Return to Row 3, sk next 3 sts, join with sl st in 4th st
Row 4: ch 1, sc next 3 sts, leave rest of sts unworked, turn [3]
Rows 5-6: ch 1, sc each of the 3 sts, turn. At end of row 6, fasten off.
Return to first st of Row 6, join with sl st
Row 7: ch 1, sc next 3 ch 3, sk next 3, sc next 4, ch 3, sk next 3, sc next 3, turn [10 sc, 6 ch] First two windows made.
Row 8: ch 1, sc each st and ch across, turn[16]
Row 9: ch 1, sc each st across, turn [16]
Row 10: ch 3, sc in 2nd ch and next ch, sc across rest of sts, turn [18]
Row 11: ch 3, sc in 2nd ch and next ch, sc across rest of sts, turn [20]
Row 12: ch 1, Inv Dec, sc across until 2 sts remain, Inv Dec [18] Fasten off.
Return to Row 12, rejoin with a sl st in the 6th st
Row 13: ch 1, sc next 8 sts, leave rest of sts unworked, turn [8]

Work next row in the sc only, you do not work in the ch 3 picot
Row 22: ch 1, Inv Dec, sc across until 2 sts remain, Inv Dec, turn [6]
Row 23: ch 1, Inv Dec, sc across until 2 sts remain, Inv Dec, turn [4]
Row 24: ch 1, Inv Dec 2 times [2] Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Moon:
Rnd 1: Using MR, ch 3, 12 dc in ring, pull to close, sl st in first st [12]
Rnd 2: ch 3, Inc each st around, join as before [24]
Rnd 3: ch 3, *dc next, Inc next*; rep between * around, join [36]
Rnd 4: ch 3, *dc next 2, Inc next*; rep between * around, join [48]
Rnd 5: ch 3, *dc next 3, Inc next*; rep between * around, join [60] Fasten off. Weave in end.
Place Haunted House in middle of moon with 2 bottom windows on outer edge of circle making sure yellow is showing through. Sew house to the moon.
