Supplies Needed for the Crochet Heart Basket

#6 bulky yarn (I used Lion Brand Hometown)

K(6.5 mm) hook(I love Furls Hooks)

Large eye tapestry needle

Candy or keepsakes to put inside

Skill Level:

Advanced Beginner

Finished crochet heart basket is 6″ wide and 2 1/2″ deep

Abbreviations Used {US Term}

MR=magic ring

ch=chain

dc=double crochet

sl st=slip stitch

Inc=increase (2 dc in same st)

BL=back loops

FPdc=front post double crochet

Special Stitch Used:

FPdc: yo, insert hook behind post of dc from previous row, yo, complete st as a dc

Notes:

ch 3 counts as a stitch

Crochet Heart Basket Pattern Instructions:

Rnd 1:  Using MR, 12 dc in ring, pull to close, sl st in first st using invisible join [12]

For rows 2-5, you will be working in back loops.

Rnd 2: ch 2, Inc in each st around, join as before [24]

Rnd 3:  ch 2, dc next, Inc next around, join [36]

Rnd 4: ch 2, dc next 2, Inc next around, join [48]

Rnd 5:  ch 2, dc each st around, join [48]

You will now be working through both loops.

Rnd 6:  ch 2, dc next 2, FPdc next, around, join [32 dc, 16 FPdc]

Rnd 7: rep row 6, do not join at end of the round

Leaving a long tail, fasten off. You will now fold the un-joined ends together to form the heart. Tack the folds together. Weave in end. Shape.
