Crochet Shamrock Applique Free Pattern

Plastic Canvas

tr=treble crochet

dc=double crochet

sl st=slip stitch

sc=single crochet

hdc=half double crochet

Instructions for Crochet Shamrock Applique

Heart: {Make 3}

When doing the ch 1 in rnd 1, work loosely as you will be working in these in the 2nd rnd.

Rnd 1: With green, ch 4, All the following sts will be worked into the first ch (farthest ch from hook) (3 tr, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr, ch 2, sl st into center

Rnd 2: Ch 3, (sc and hdc) in the first tr, 3 hdc next st, 2 hdc next st, sc next 4 sts {which includes the ch 1}, ch 1, dc in the tr, ch 1, sc next 4 sts {which will include the ch1}, 2 hdc next st, 3 hdc next st, (hdc and sc) next st, ch 3, sl st into center. Fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Crochet Shamrock Assembly:

Place tips of two hearts together wrong side up. Sew together in back loops from tip to five stiches up. Refer to photos for placement. Add the third heart and sew in same fashion. Add final heart and sew. Join green where the 3 hearts meet. Ch desired amount for length of stem. For example, I did ch 7, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch, sl st where you began. Weave in all ends.

Optional: Steam block the applique

These instructions are for using this applique with the Every Day Wall Hanging.

Using the shamrock as a template, cut the plastic canvas slightly smaller than the shape. Sew section of metal snap with the nub facing up to the middle of the plastic canvas shamrock shape. Sew plastic canvas to back of shamrock with snap facing out.
