Crochet Table Runner Floral Delight Centerpiece

This crochet table runner is the perfect way to beautify your dining table. The flower centerpiece can hold your vase of flowers, globe of succulents, or potted plant. It has the lovely pineapple cluster stitch rows on both ends. Make it with colors to match your décor. Center it in the middle of a large table or overhang on a smaller side table.

Yarn:

#4 cotton MC-400 yds, CC 200 yds.

Other Supplies:

US Size H-8 (5 mm) hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Yarn Needle for weaving ends

Gauge:

7 Ps x 8 rows=4”

7 hdc V st x 10 rows=4”

MC=main color

CC=contrasting color

Ch(s)=chain(s)

sk=skip

Rep=repeat

st(s)=stitch(es)

Rnd: Round

dc=double crochet

ch-1 sp(s)=chain 1 space(s)

sc=single crochet

yo=yarn over

tch=turning chain

hdc=half double crochet

sl st=slip stitch

Special Stitches for Crochet Table Runner:

Ps: (pineapple stitch) *yo, insert hook in st, yo, pull through* Rep between * 3 times, yo, pull through the first 8 loops on your hook, yo, pull through the 2 remaining loops on hook.

Make sure you keep loops fairly loose so you can pull through 8 easily

hdc V st:  (hdc, ch 1, hdc) in same st

FPdc: yo, insert hook around post of dc in row below, yo, pull through 2 loops, yo, pull through 2 loops

Notes:

ch 2 counts as hdc, ch 3 counts as dc

-Highly recommend using the same brand of yarn for your chosen colors.

-Wet Blocking recommended due to different tensions in the stitches.

Crochet Table Runner Instructions:

For the pineapple st rows you will alternate 2 rows of MC{cream} and 1 row of CC{coral}.  If you don’t want to weave in ends, you can make these rows all one color with just the CC.

Pineapple Stitch Rows

Row 1: With MC, ch 48, Ps in 4th ch from hook, ch 1, *sk next ch, Ps in next ch, ch 1* Rep between * until 2 chs remain, sk 1 ch, dc in last ch, turn [22 Ps, 22 ch-1 sps, 2 dc]

Row 2: Ch 3, sk 1st st, Ps in 1st ch-1 sp, *ch 1, Ps in next ch-1 sp* Rep between * to last Ps, sk last Ps,dc in tch, change to CC in final yo, turn

Row 3: With CC, rep row 2, change to MC in final yo

Row 4-5: With MC, rep row 2, change to CC in final yo

Rows 6-11:  Rep rows 3-5 two times

Row 12: With CC, ch 1, sc in 1st dc, sc in each ch-1 sp and Ps across, sc in tch, change to MC in final yo, turn [46 sc]

Hdc V st Rows

Row 13: With MC, ch 2, sk 1st sc, hdc V st in next sc, *sk next sc, hdc V st in next sc* Rep between * until last 2 sc, sk 1 sc, hdc in last sc, turn [22 hdc V sts, 2 hdc]

Row 14: Ch 2, *sk next 2 hdc, hdc V st in next ch-1 sp* Rep between * until last hdc, sk hdc, hdc in tch, turn

Rows 15-42: Rep row 14, in final yo, of last row, change to CC

Row 43: With CC, ch 1, sc in 1st hdc, sc in each hdc across {do not sc in ch-1 sps}, sc in tch, change to MC in final yo [46 sc]

Pineapple Stitch Rows

Row 44: With MC, ch 3, *sk next st, Ps in next st, ch 1* Rep between * until last st, dc in last st, turn [22 Ps, 22 ch-1 sp, 2 dc]

Row 45: Ch 3, sk 1st dc, Ps in ch-1 sp, *ch1, Ps in next ch-1 sp* Rep between * to last Ps, sk last Ps, dc in tch, change to CC in final yo, turn

Row 46: With CC, repeat row 45, change to MC in final yo

Rows 47-48: With MC, repeat row 45 , change to CC in final yo

Rows 49-54:  Rep rows 46-48 two times. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Large Middle Flower for Crochet Table Runner:

ch 2 does not count as a stitch, join with a sl st in 1st st of each rnd

Rnd 1: With CC, ch 3, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 2, 12 dc in ring, join [12 dc]

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, join (24 dc)

Rnd 3: Ch 2, *FPdc around next 2 dc, dc in next st* rep between * around, join [16 FP, 8 dc]

Rnd 4: Ch 2, *FPdc around next 2 dc, 2 dc in next st* rep between * around, join [16 FP, 16 dc]

Rnd 5: Ch 2, *FPdc around next 2 dc, 2 dc in next 2 sts* rep between * around, join [16 FP, 32 dc]

Rnd 6: Ch 2, *FPdc around next 2 dc, dc in next 4 sts* rep between * around, join [16 FP, 32 dc]

Rnd 7: Ch 2, *FPdc around next 2 dc, 2 dc in next 4 sts* rep between * around, join [16 FP, 64 dc]Fasten off.  Leave a long tail for sewing. Weave tail through flower to get it back to Rnd 1. Sew only the 1st round of the flower to the middle of the centerpiece

Small Flowers:

Rnd 1: With MC, Ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st in 1st st to join, change to CC in final yo [5 sc]

Rnd 2: With CC, ch 2, 2dc in same st, ch 2, sl st in same st, (sl st in next st, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st, all in same st) 4 times, making 5 petals, sl st in 1st st to join. Fasten off. Leave tail for sewing

I made 4 and sewed them to the outer corners of the MC. Take free license here and make it your own. Make as many as you want and sew them where you want or only have the main large flower.  I made my small flowers with both colors, but again you choose.
