Abbreviation Used: US Terms

BLO = back loop only

ch = chain

dc = double crochet

Fhdc = foundation half double crochet

hdc = half double crochet

hdc in 3rd lp = half double crochet in 3rd loop

rep = repeat

Rnd = Round

RS = right side

sc = single crochet

sl st = slip stitch

st(s) = stitch(es)

Special Stitches Used in this Fingerless Gloves Crochet Pattern:

BLO: hdc in the loop furthest from you

hdc in the 3rd lp: hdc in the loop closest to you

Sedge St: (sc, hdc, dc) in same st

Notes:

Ch 1 in the Sedge St Rows counts as a sc.

Helpful Hints:

  1. If you would like a longer cuff, rep Rows 2-3 for desired length, then work Row 8.
  2. If you want the glove to be longer or shorter, do more or less of Row 10.
  3. To make the gloves wider, increase your starting chain (needs to be multiple of 3+1, then add 1 more if using a starting chain instead of Fhdc)
  4. Measure across your palm for your hand width or all the way around your hand for circumference then divide by 2.

Instructions For Fingerless Gloves Crochet Pattern:

Make 4

Row 1: (RS) Fhdc 16, or ch 17, hdc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across, turn [16]

Row 2: ch 1, hdc in 3rd lp in each st across, turn

Row 3: ch 1, hdc in BLO in each st across, turn

Rows 4-7: rep Rows 2-3

Row 8: rep Row 2

Row 9: ch 1 {counts as st}, (hdc, dc) in same st, *sk 2 sts, (sc, hdc, dc) in next st; rep across until 3 sts remain, sk 1 st, sc in last st, turn [5 Sedge, 1 sc]

Row 10: ch 1 {counts as sc}, (hdc, dc) in same st, *sk 2, (sc, hdc, dc) in next sc; rep from *, sc in tch, turn [5 Sedge, 1 sc]

Rows 11-24: rep Row 10

Assembly:

  • Place your hand on each of the glove sides and mark with stitch markers on each side of your thumb.
  • Place RS of glove sides together.
  • Use a whipstitch to sew each side together, leaving where you marked the thumb hole open.
  • Repeat with 2nd glove.

Thumb hole:

Turn gloves right side out.

Rnd 1: Join yarn anywhere on the thumb hole opening, ch 1, hdc evenly around the opening, join with sl st in the 1st st

Rnd 2: ch 1, hdc in 3rd lp (now found on inside of work) in each st around, join with sl st in the 1st st

Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
