Granny Square:
Rnd 1: With MC, using MR, ch 3, 2dc, ch 2, dc 3, ch 2, dc 3, ch 2, dc 3, ch 2 in ring, sl st top of ch 3 [12 dc, 4 ch 2-sp]
Rnd 2: Join in any corner ch 2-sp,( ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch 2-sp; (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next three ch 2-sp; join [24 dc, 4 ch 2-sp]
Rnd 3: Join in any corner ch 2-sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in ch 2-sp; *3 dc in next sp between the
3 dc cluster, (3 dc,ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner ch 2-sp; rep from * around, join with sl st top of ch 3 [36 dc, 4 ch 2-sp]
Rnd 4: Join in any corner ch-2 sp, Ch 3, (2 dc,ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp, 3 dc in each 3 dc cluster sp between corners, and (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in each corner ch-2 sp around, join with sl st in top of Ch 3 [48 dc, 4 ch 2-sp]
Rnds 5-10: (or until your square measures 8 in): Rep rnd 4 [Each dc count will increase by 12]
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Flower Motif:
Rnd 1: With CC, using MR, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, pull to close, sl st top of ch 3 [12]
Rnd 2: Working in BL’s this rnd only, Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each st around, join [24]
Rnd 3: ch 3, tr in FL of previous row, *dc next, tr next in FL of previous row; rep from * around, join [12 dc, 12 FPtr]
Rnd 4: ch 1, sc same st, *ch 8, sk next 3, sc next; rep from * 4x, ch 8, join in first sc [6 sc, 6 ch 8]
Rnd 5: ch 1, *12 dc in ch 8-sp, sl st in sc, ch 1; rep from * 4x, 12 dc in last ch 8-sp, join [72 dc, 6 sl st]
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Line up the middle magic ring of the flower to the middle magic ring of the granny square. Tack the circle portion of the flower only to the square, leaving the petals free.
