A beautifully textured top, the Layla Jane Crochet Top has endless color blocking opportunities. It also looks wonderful in one color. Suitable for summer but pop a long sleeve shirt under it, and it can work long into fall. This top is a must have staple in your handmade wardrobe.
Layla Jane Crochet Top Inspiration
Although I’ve been crocheting for quite a long time and have several designs, this top is my first garment design. It was on my crochet bucket list, and now I’m happy to say it has a big check mark next to it. I love the herringbone half double crochet, and the Iris stitch is also a favorite. I combined the two for a super simple yet lovely repeat. Wanting my design to have a beautiful name, I named it after my granddaughter.

Details
The Layla Jane Top is size inclusive. Pattern instructions include adult sizes XS-5X based on the Craft Yarn Council women’s measurements. It’s super easy to color block your top. The length as written is 20″, but it is simple to modify. Make it a crop top, which is what one of my testers did or make a longer tunic, which I did with a second one. Top is made in one piece from the bottom waist up, split for neck and then worked from neck down. Sides are seamed from armpit down.
Made with a DK weight yarn to be lightweight and breathable. Using a DK cotton is also suitable. I made one with Paintbox Yarns and one with a Caron Cotton Ripple Cake.
Bust measurements in inches: 30(34,38,42,46,50,54,58,62)
