Colors to use for your overlay mosaic blanket strip

This is a great way to use up some of your scrap yarn. For a classic and cheerful spring look, here’s a color palette suggestion:

• Tulips:
  • Bright Red
  • Soft Pink
  • Sunny Yellow
  • Lavender Purple
• Tulip Stems/Leaves:
  • Fresh Leaf Green or Spring Green
• Background:
  • Soft Sky Blue or Crisp White – to make the tulips stand out and give a clean, airy feel

This Overlay Mosaic Blanket Strip Features in Months of the Year Blanket CAL

This overlay mosaic blanket strip “Mosaic Tulip Bed” was designed for the Months of the Year Blanket Free CAL hosted by Elimee Designs. A collaboration by 11 different designers, each month a new strip is released. Each design reflects a theme or event associated with that month. Ex. January is mittens, and February is hearts. When the year is over, you will have a complete, beautiful, unique blanket.

My blanket strip features a row of colorful tulips growing up from the earth. Because it is one color per row, it is super easy to make the leaves and stems green, and the tulips another color. My section will release on May 1, 2025. The free chart only will be available here on the blog.

Free Chart For The Overlay Mosaic Blanket Strip

Below you will find the chart for the strip used in the Free CAL. It is upside down as that is how it is used in the Months of Year Blanket so that the blanket will be in the correct orientation for January-December. Also included, is the right side up version in case you’d like to make a tulip blanket, wall hanging or pillow, etc.

• Rows 1-4 use your Color A-background color and your Color B-bed color. You could use the tulip color or a different color for this part.
• Rows 5-11 use your Color A-background color and your Color B-leaf/stem color.
• Rows 12-19 use your Color A-background color and your Color B-tulip color.
