When doing the ch 1 in Rnd 1, work loosely as you will be working in these in the 2nd rnd. Leave an 8” length on 2 of the hearts when fastening off for sewing.
With green, using MR, place all the following sts into the ring (3 tr, 3 dc, ch 1, 1 tr, ch 1, 3 dc, 3 tr) ch 2, pull ring closed, sl st into center, fasten off
Assembly:
Refer to photo below for placement. Place tips of two hearts together wrong side up. Sew together in back loops from tip to five stitches up. Add the third heart and sew in same fashion. Join green with a sl st where the 3 hearts meet. Ch desired amount for length of stem. For example, I did ch 6, sl st in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch, sl st where you began. Weave in the ends.

Love the paired half double stitch, it gives a great firm stitch for the sides of the basket!
It sure does! I just recently discovered it.
